The latest edition of the CEV newsletter has just arrived in my in-box. The item that caught my attention was the reference to the new restrictive rules proposed by the FIVB on foreign players joining clubs.
As far as such proposals are concerned and taking into consideration the peculiarities of the European context, the CEV Executive Committee stressed the importance of defending the promotion of volleyball through both national and European competitions and was in favor to organize a meeting especially devoted to discussing such matters along with FIVB President, Dr. Rubén Acosta H., and Mr. Jan Figuel, European Commissioner for Education, Training and Culture. This summit should take place before the next FIVB Board of Administration – which is scheduled for next May, 11 – and aims at granting a careful common discussion among all parties involved before the above mentioned restriction rule will be fixed by the FIVB Board.
That sounds more promising for our Aussie players playing overseas. Maybe …
