It looks like under 21 girls could get only 5 matches for the tournament.
I hope I am wrong as it is hardly value for a week off work and nearly $2,000 for some kids. If your team had 4 subs it would not be worth going.I certainly hope I am, wrong here.

That’s my reading of it Eldo. 6 teams – one match a day round robin. Another game for medals if the team finishes in top 4. IE 5 or 6 games. Compared to u17 boys who get 9 games.

really sucks it is hardly worthwhile, sadly a double r/r is not possible – not in the ajvc rule book

I would have at least thought a playoff for 5th / 6th place to give each team a 6th game

It has been the case for years that the under 21′s, for both genders get a bit of a raw deal. Less matches than the younger age groups yet the same referee levies etc etc.

As a current 21s player, I am very fond of not having multiple games in a day. It allows us to focus all our energy into each game and feels somewhat more professional. In every other tournament we play, we have multiple games in a day which doesn’t allow us to perform at your peak. The cost of the trip is very high, but I wouldn’t feel as though I was getting more for my money if I played more games, rather, it would feel very much like all other tournaments and not at all special.

have to say i agree with the baron. i didn’t get on much the couple of times i played 21s, but didn’t bother me that much. What i think is interesting is that the cost for some players from interstate may be less than for those playing locally!

The U19 men seem to get a lot of games, which will be interesting to see which teams can go the distance.
I have noticed that Queensland, Victoria and WA have more than one team, and was wondering in which order they are ranked. As this is my first Nationals, I have no idea which colour means which team they are, i.e 1st or 2nd (or in Victoria’s case, 3rd). If you could help out that would be much appreciated.
Cheers

You will certainly recover quickly when you do not have any games on the last day.

Hey Scott,
Perhaps more to the point why are Victoria allowed to take three teams? This is, after all the national championships. I would have thought that meant the best of the juniors – not a city team, a country team and then a group of players that are the next best in line.
Why don’t other states follow this line and enter three teams in each division? Is it lack of playing depth or because an exception is made for Victoria?

Vic have had blue (best) and white (development) teams for many years. The gold team was introduced so that country kids didn’t have as much travel for training, but it seems to be a little more general in its makeup recently.

Does anyone here know which teams are the first team and which are the development teams for some states. These are the teams and their colours:
S.A Blue & S.A Red
W.A Black & W.A Gold
N.S.W Sky & N.S.W Navy
Can anyone tell me?
