When new New Zealand men’s coach Tony Barnett decided to cast his net wider than anyone had done in the past, Palmerston North players Soane Vaipulu and Matt Quinn found themselves discovered.
They are to play for New Zealand against the Australian Institute of Sport development team in Canberra next month.
Previously teams were chosen from the top-end players at the nationals and those who couldn’t get there didn’t get selected. Vaipulu and Quinn were picked after two months of trials involving 120 players. more @ Manawatu Standard
