Hey Devo,
I’d just like to say thankyou for posting the results and keeping everyone informed about our comp. The AVF wanted to have nothing to do with us, so its great to see that there is interest out there. The comp was fantastic, with most of the players having their first taste of international volleyball. We were a little unlucky to not place a bit higher, losing two matches by 2 points in the 5th (19-17 to GB and 16-14 to UAE)but everyone really enjoyed the tournament.
The next one is in 2011 in Shenzen, China and I urge everyone who is eligible and thinks they are at the standard to get on the AVF’s back to get their act together about organising a team. The comp is used by many nations as a tournament for their young senior A or B team players (Serbia had 5 current world league players playing) and I see no reason why Australia can’t do the same thing. Its a fantastic experience, so everyone eligible, go for it, I know the guys from the current team who will still be eligible next time are all keen to go again.
Anyway, thanks again for reporting on our results.
